Updated: Apr 26, 2019

Rimini born striker Filippo Tamburini has signed on for the USL League Two First Team, a target who was widely sought by Coach Joe Balsamo. The 6"4', 1996 born Italian talisman is a sophomore at Canisius College, brought overseas by the club's very own Nicolò Baudo's YesWeCollege player placement program. Filippo made an immediate splash on the college scene, finishing second on the team's scoring chart with four goals and three assists. He has recorded 30 shots, including 14 tries on goal. He has started in all 15 games played and has made ALL-MAAC First Team, Rookie Team in the 2017 campaign. He finished his freshman year with 11 goals, ending the season fifth in Canisius College's soccer program's history in goals and seventh in points during a campaign.

Before embarking stateside to pursue a collegiate career, Filippo played with AC Cesena, scoring a whopping 30 goals in the process. He was highly regarded by Nicolò Baudo and is widely considered one of the strongest forwards in MAAC (Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference).

"We are incredibly excited by Filippo's signing. He perfectly fits the characteristics of what the club looks for. He is very technical, has a towering presence, and is lethal in front of net. His previous experience playing in Italy makes it easier for him to be able to adapt to the tactical demands that (Coach) Joe requests. I am sure he will fit right in and we are eager to welcome him with open arms into the FA Euro family." - Marco Balsamo, Executive Director

"I am very motivated, I have not played for a short while as I have recently moved to Rhode Island. As of now, I am training alone which is never the same as when you train with the rest of the lads. But, it only adds more fuel for me as it drives my passion for the sport only more." comments Filippo. "I always aim high and try to exceed expectations and want to make my mark here in the United States, which is an environment I am still learning and getting to know. I want to contribute by scoring goals and achieving victories with FA Euro. I look to have fun and enjoy myself in the process at the incredible opportunity to get the chance to spend the summer in New York."
